My husband and I are home bodies but we still have date nights every so often during the week (before we had our baby). Now, I actually enjoy going out with the baby since staying in the house can become stifling. However, before the baby I really enjoy our spontaneous date night but I like to plan for them in order to find deals and coupons.

Date night can be pretty expensive but over the years with the help of technology there are many ways to find a good deal.

Here are some tips that helped us saved a ton during our date nights and I’m sure they will help you as well.

Set a Budget

When you set a budget, you’re less likely to overspend. I know setting a budget can be constricting to some people but you don’t have to be too rigid about it. You can set a range of how much you want to spend on the date night.

Once you set your budget you will get a sense of where to go or what to do for date night. This makes the process easier as well to plan out the date.

Use a Coupon

I love using coupons for almost anything because who doesn’t like to save money. My husband is getting better at looking for deals and coupons before buying stuff as well. I guess my frugalness is rubbing off on him.

What do you think of someone using a coupon on a date? Would you consider it “frugal or cheap? I honestly don’t mind and would actually be impressed with it. Cause it shows that they took the time to plan it and also save money while at it.

I would highly recommend using Groupon to see if there is something that interest you.

You could also use Groupon for date night ideas since there are tons of great deals. Just browse the deals and see if any of them pique your interest.

Another option is, which offers gift certificate for a fraction of the price. I have used this for several years and have gotten great deals. You can guy a $5 gift certificate for like $2, which is a great deal. I usually buy the $50 certificate for $25 and the great thing is that they never expire. Just make sure to read the directions and discretion before buying and using.

If you want to dine at home then use for coupons to thousands of restaurants and store.

We use RetailMeNot a lot when we want to eat out but at home.

Some stores will have their own coupons as well, so make sure to check their website for promotions or coupons that come in the mail for local restaurants and services.

Dinner at Home

You don’t have to be a master chef to cook an amazing meal. There are many simple and easy recipes online that you can pick from.

Also, having dinner at home will allow to you have more intimate conversations rather than being surrounded by other people.

There are services as well like Hello Fresh and Blue Apron that sends you the the exact ingredients and cooking directions, which makes cooking at home a breeze.

Movie Night at Home

Going to the movies can be pretty expensive considering the cost of tickets, food, and drinks. Watch a movie at home with Netflix or Hulu and buy dinner for delivery or pick it up. Either way you’ll enjoy the comfort of your own home while watching a movie and having dinner.

If the weather allows, then you can set up a computer or tablet outside and prepare snacks and drinks.
